If you want to end the rental at a SIXT station, make sure you have the return address of the desired station with you. When returning the car, follow the Car Return signs. In the Car Return area of the SIXT station, take the vehicle key from the glove compartment, end the rental using the app and then lock the vehicle using the vehicle key. Please then place the key into the key safe or hand it in at the SIXT counter. Please also note: If you return the vehicle to a SIXT station, additional charges will apply. Please wait until the authorities send you a payment request directly. The issuing authority will contact the car-sharing provider to determine who caused the damage. This is how the authorities will obtain your contact details.

SIXT share & Free2Move & cambio

The document you receive by mail will contain all the information you need to settle the claim with the authorities. In addition, the respective partner will charge you a processing fee, which hvv switch will bill using the payment method used for the original booking. You will, of course, receive a receipt for this transaction by email as usual.

MILES

The authorities first send the parking ticket to MILES. Once you have been identified as the driver, MILES forwards it to the authorities. You will then receive the parking ticket from MILES by email. The original will be sent to you by post by the fines office.

The fine must be paid directly to the authorities. In addition, MILES will charge you a processing fee, which we will debit from your registered payment method.

E-scooters

Voi may also impose a fine for a traffic violation. Voi will then contact you.

If you believe that a ticket you have received is unjustified, it is best to contact the issuing authority directly.

Cars from SIXT share can be reserved for 15 minutes, MILES cars for 10 minutes and Free2move cars for 20 minutes.
If you do not start the rental within this time, the reservation expires free of charge and the car is released again.

Cambio cars can be booked up to 360 days in advance for a maximum period of 30 days. You can cancel your booking free of charge via the app up to 24 hours before the start of the booking. Within 24 hours before the start of the booking or during the booking in progress, the cancellation fee is 50 percent of the normal hourly rate.

New vehicle damage to a carsharing car should be reported directly to the respective customer service.

The following applies to SIXTshare, MILES and Free2move: In the hvv switch app, you can view any damage to the reserved car that has already been reported for inspection before the start of the rental. At this point, you have the option of contacting the relevant customer service team directly to report new damage, either by email or by phone, depending on the provider.

If you identify any damage to a Voi e-scooter, please report it to Voii customer service.

SIXT share & cambio

You will find the car key for both SIXT share and cambio vehicles in the glove compartment. Please put the car key back in the glove compartment at the end of the rental and lock the car via the app. If the key cannot be found in the glove compartment, please report this to the respective customer service. With cambio cars, you may be asked to enter a cambio PIN (on-board computer). You can find this in the hvv switch app.

MILES

MILES cars and Mercedes Sprinters can be opened via the start/stop button. The other transporters are started with an ignition key, which is located in the glove compartment.

Free2move

With Free2move, most vehicles no longer have a car key. They can be easily opened and locked via the app. If a vehicle does need a key, you will find it in the glove compartment.

You can park in all publicly accessible parking lots, at hvv switch points, and in the designated areas at Hamburg Airport. In “parking disc zones,” you must use a parking disc (no parking ticket required). Please note: Parking time is limited here; the rental cannot be ended, only interrupted.

The rental can be ended within the Hamburg business area. This is permitted at hvv switch points as long as they are located in the business area of the respective provider. In addition, the following applies:

  • MILES: Ending also possible in other MILES cities
  • SIXT share: Termination also possible at SIXT rental stations, even outside Hamburg
  • cambio & Dorfstromer: Start and end must always take place at the same hvv switch point

Please ensure that the vehicle is parked properly in accordance with traffic regulations on public roads for at least 48 hours. It is not permitted to end the rental:

  • in parking garages, underground garages, or covered areas
  • in private parking lots (e.g., backyards, parking garage areas)
  • in parking spaces reserved for residents only
  • in zones with parking discs or time limits that take effect within 48 hours
  • in parking spaces for electric vehicles (except with an electric car)
  • in “no parking” areas, which are marked in red in the app

Please also observe the detailed parking rules of your providers (SIXT share, Free2move, cambio, MILES). In principle, the local traffic regulations always apply.

The vehicle registration document is located in the glove compartment of SIXT share, Free2move & cambio cars.

MILES

For administrative reasons, no copies of the vehicle registration document are stored in MILES cars. If necessary (e.B. at a police check) they will be provided by email.

The hvv switch points are displayed in the car sharing section of the app on the map view as a red pin with a hvv switch icon. If you have not rented a car at the moment, it works like this: A small number on the pin shows you the number of cars that are bookable via the hvv switch app.

Clicking on the hvv switch dot will show you the name and address of the hvv switch dot as well as details about the cars that can be booked. The available cars can be clicked on. This way you can get detailed information and also start a reservation or rental if needed.

You will be shown the walking distance and the distance to the hvv switch point directly in the app on the map.

If you are currently traveling in a rented car, this is how it works:

During an ongoing reservation or rental, the view of the pins changes in the app: The simple number at the top right of the pin (rentable cars) becomes a "PX". The "X" in "PX" stands for the number of free parking spaces on the hvv switch points to help you find a free parking space.

When you find or are shown a hvv switch point with charging infrastructure, you will notice another number on the pin, one with a lightning symbol. This number indicates how many charging points are currently free at the hvv switch point.

The hvv switch app only shows you cars that can be booked via the hvv switch app. Since vehicles from other providers, such as Dorfstromer, are also legally allowed to park at hvv switch points, it is possible that cars may be parked at hvv switch points but not shown in the app.
