Validations can only be carried out with driving licenses in card format. If you still have a paper driver's license, please exchange it for a plastic card. You can find all information about the exchange deadlines here.

You can view your stored driving license data in the driving license section of your profile and adjust it if necessary. If you have already been validated with your old driving license data, adjusting your driving license data will initially result in your validation being withdrawn. You can then simply carry out a new validation with the new driving license data in order to be able to use the services requiring a driving license again.

The validation process can be completed in just a few minutes. ID and driving license documents can be scanned and uploaded directly via the app. The check is usually completed within 10 minutes. In some cases, the check can take up to 24 hours. During the night between 23:00 and 06:00, it may take a little longer for the validation to be completed.

You will be informed by e-mail as soon as it has been completed. After successful validation, you can use all car sharing services in the app.

When entering your driving license data, please make sure that you enter the issue date of your driving license category and not the issue date of the driving license. On plastic driving licenses (DE), the issue date of driving license category B is entered in field 10 on the back. On paper driving licenses, there is only one date (date of issue), which is then also the date of issue.

With station-based car sharing, the cars are parked in fixed parking spaces close to your home or workplace. You collect the car at a cambio station or an hvv switch point at the start of the rental and return it there at the end of the journey.

If the booked car cannot be made available at the station or the hvv switch point, you will usually be contacted by cambio in advance.

The car can be easily opened via the hvv switch app. Make sure you have Wi-Fi or mobile data.

Use the “Open vehicle” button and follow the instructions. You will find the car key in the glove compartment. In some cars, the on-board computer will ask you to enter the cambio PIN. This will be displayed in the app.

You can also easily end the rental via the app.

Both the fuel, charging and cambio pin are displayed in the app and can be called up permanently during the active rental, if required.
You set up the hvv switch pin yourself when you registered and should therefore know it. It is required, among other things, to confirm bookings and cancelations.
The fuel pin is required to legitimize the payment process by credit card at the petrol station.
The charging pin is required to open the corresponding charging station with the charging card.
And last but not least: Entering the Cambio pin into the on-board computer of a Cambio car is required to release the ignition key.

You will find the fuel card in the logbook. The PIN for the fuel card is displayed in the app.
Please refuel at the specified petrol station chains, including ARAL, BP, Shell or UTA. The fuel cards are valid throughout Europe.

The tank should be more than a quarter full on return, otherwise you may incur additional costs.
