Please first make sure that the documents you want to check are valid and meet our criteria.

You will receive specific instructions by e-mail if the validation and activation of your driving license and ID document did not work. Please also pay attention to the instructions in the app during the validation process so that your documents and your face can be scanned correctly and the data can then be processed.

This is not an error. This feature has been deliberately built into the app.

  1. It might be the case that one of the two cars is already being rented by another user. Or, in the case of an electric car, the battery might be flat and that is why it is not displayed in the app.
  2. The app only displays different cars within a radius of 1 km. In the case of similar vehicle types of a particular mobility provider, only the one that is closest to the app user will be shown.

By the way, once 5 specific vehicle options have been shown, the customer can access a new map display on the sixth screen (“Nothing for you?”) where all available cars are displayed. So if both cars mentioned are free and available, you will be able to find both on the map this way.

If you’ve forgotten your PIN, you can use the "Forgotten PIN" function to obtain a new PIN. You will find this option in your profile and at the point in the booking process where you are asked to enter your PIN. To change your PIN, you will need to enter your driving licence number and password for security reasons. Then you can enter and save a new PIN.

Renting SIXT share cars using the hvv switch app is only possible within the SIXT share service region in Hamburg. However, you are permitted to drive outside of this service region and even abroad. A detailed list of countries where you are permitted to drive can be found in the SIXT General Terms and Conditions.

You can only end the rental in the same country in which the vehicle was originally rented, however. But this can also be outside Hamburg, within a SIXT share service region in another city, or at a SIXT rental station.

With a rented carsharing car, you may also park outside the business area. Outside the business areas and in car parks, you must comply with the same regulations as with your private vehicle and pay the charges yourself. Please note that the rental fee for the car continues to run and the corresponding costs are incurred.

Unfortunately, we are not yet able to offer you a refueling or recharging function within the app.

Refueling

If you urgently need fuel for your car, e.g. to get back to the business area, the fuel costs have to be paid privately. After the trip, send the receipts to sixtshare-hvv@sixt.com with the booking number, license plate number and bank account details. After successful verification, the fuel costs will be reimbursed by SIXT share.

Important for you to know: Refueling as well as charging is not incentivized with hvv switch by e.g. free minutes or similar.

Charging

You can charge the SIXT share cars with the charging card in the car or the chip on your key ring. How exactly this works, you can find out here.

To use car sharing services, you must be in possession of valid ID and driving license documents and validate them in the app. If the driving license you have on file expires, we will inform you by e-mail in good time so that you can take care of issuing and depositing a new driving license.

There might be several reasons why certain information is not displayed. It could be that there are no cars in your area at that particular time. Or that your Internet connection is not stable enough to load cars. If you think it is due to a technical error, please contact hvv switch customer service.
