No. If you use the same email address for StadtRAD and hvv switch, your existing StadtRAD membership will be automatically recognized upon activation. You will not be charged the annual fee twice.

Please check before activation to make sure the same email address is on file for both accounts. If not, update the email address in your StadtRAD account: StadtRAD Hamburg app > Profile > Personal Information > Email.

Important: The email address in the hvv switch app cannot be changed. It is therefore not possible to link it to an existing StadtRAD account at a later time.

Yes, you can cancel your StadtRAD account registered via hvv switch at any time in the hvv switch app.

Important: Canceling your hvv switch account does not affect any separate StadtRAD account you may have. So if you also have an account directly with StadtRAD, you must cancel that account separately with StadtRAD. Please note that both contracts are independent of each other and must therefore be canceled separately if you use both.

Note: There is no refund of the annual fee during the first year of the contract, as it is credited in the form of ride credits.

Yes, you can bring up to 4 bicycles at a time on both the standard fare and the Deutschlandticket fare.

You can unlock a StadtRAD either by scanning the QR code on the bike or by renting it directly from the bike's details page in the app.

To end your rental, lock the bike at a StadtRAD station using the lock attached to the bike. To do this, push the red lever on the rear wheel all the way down. The rental will then end automatically.

Please note: If you park a StadtRAD outside a station or outside the service area, fees may apply. In this case, the bike will emit a visual and audible signal, and you will also receive a text message with a corresponding notification.

No, you cannot end a StadtRAD rental outside of a station or outside the service area. While you can pause the rental there, it will not automatically end until 24 hours have passed.

In this case, the daily maximum rate and a fee of up to 25 euros will be charged.

StadtRAD cargo e-bikes cannot be used via the hvv switch app.

Yes, you can pause your ride. To do so, set the pause in the hvv switch app and lock the bike within the specified time frame.

Please note: The pause time is also charged and deducted from the 30 free minutes per ride. The pause ends automatically after 24 hours.

Currently, hvv switch offers StadtRAD’s Standard and Germany Ticket plans. Both plans include an annual fee of 8.90 euros, plus the respective fare costs.

In the first year of your contract, you’ll receive a travel credit of 10 euros. This will be deducted from your fares. Please note: The Light fare is not yet available in the hvv switch app.

There may be several reasons why the lock won’t close:

• Blocked spokes: The spokes on the rear wheel may be blocking the lock. Gently wiggle the rear wheel, then try closing the lock again by pressing the red lever all the way down until you hear a beep.
• Report damage: If the lock still does not work, report the damage using the damage form on the details page of the respective StadtRAD in the app. Please send us a message with the bike number and select the category “Lock does not close.”
